Purple Chinese Houses, Royal Blue and White Lupine, Golden Sierra Poppies: These are a few of the wildflowers John Muir must have seen as he traveled through the Sierra Nevada foothills on his voyage of discovery over 100 years ago. We'll travel to some little-known areas of the central Sierra foothills on our own voyage of discovery this spring, looking for these wildflowers and others to photograph.

Having lived in the Sierra Nevada foothills for several years, Barbara Brundege and Allen Kuhlow have had the opportunity to add to their knowledge of wildflower spots in the Sierra Nevada foothills. In 2001, on one trail alone, they were able to identify 50 wildflower species in bloom. This spring they want to share some of the hottest spots in the area with you. Best photographs from the past couple of years have included Mariposa Lilies, fields of Lupine, Golden Brodaea, Farewell to Spring, and delicate pink Globe Lilies.

If you've ever considered attending a photography workshop, this is an excellent chance to try one. You'll enjoy a weekend in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills with Barbara and Allen, as they share their knowledge of the area and of wildflower macro techniques. They'll guide you to the best locations in the area and help you get top-notch wildflower photos during this weekend workshop in the invigorating mountains around Sonora, California.
