Perhaps
you've completed Part 1 of Simplified Photoshop, as taught by
Allen Kuhlow, or you may have explored Photoshop on your own. Now you'd
like to extend your knowledge and practical experience with this powerful
image editing software, see what PS3 has to offer. We'll be working
with masks, one of Photoshop's most powerful features! During this workshop
you'll discover how to use masks to optimize small, local areas in your
images. If you are ready to move your skills to a new level, then Part
2 is designed for you.
Photoshop is the gold standard of digital image processing programs,
so extending your knowledge of the features that are applicable to outdoor
photography will be our goal. Past attendees of our introductory Part
1 class have had their Photoshop questions answered and left the class
understanding digital photography concepts more clearly. During Part
2, we'll answer any general-interest questions that have come up during
your basic exploration of Photoshop, we'll work through a complete image
optimization.
We'll concentrate on three important areas: creating Selections by
several methods will be a major part of our studies, applying the Levels
Tool and the Curves Tool at appropriate times, and working with Masks!
We'll also discover a couple of special image enhancement techniques
for working in Photoshop.
If you've worked with Photoshop at all, you know that being able to select
and maximize a portion of your image is one of the most important skills you
can acquire. Making an accurate selection of a portion of your image is crucial
to controlling the final image. This class will emphasize several techniques
to make accurate selections, so your printed image will burst from the page
in an explosion of color.
The class is limited to three participants to ensure help with your
training. We'll limit the number of tools and techniques we explore.
You'll feel comfortable using these few tools, so you'll go home ready
to continue your exploration of Adobe's popular Photoshop software.
The benefits of our Photoshop class are that we'll have a maximum of
three participants, you'll have your own computer to work on, and instructor
access is much better with a class this small.
During this all-day class, we'll provide a home-cooked lunch on the premises,
so you can take a break from your studies without having to worry about
finding a lunch location.
If you're relatively new to the digital darkroom, you'll feel comfortable
here. You should know how to use a computer for such tasks as surfing
the Internet or checking e-mail; we'll be working on Windows-based computers
with Photoshop CS2, but Photoshop works almost identically on Mac computers,
so the instruction will work well for you if you are comfortable using
either Windows or Mac machines. If you are using a Mac computer, we'll
provide the information you need to work on that type of computer too.
This second part of the introductory Photoshop workshop will advance
your skill level, so that you'll gain additional techniques to make
your image editing sessions go more smoothly as you continue to develop
your Photoshop skills. Our goal is to provide you with tools that will
make your image optimization quicker and more effective.
