Allen Kuhlow taught English, computer education,
and photography classes at the high school and college level for
many years, and he has photographed the environment for over thirty
years. His work has been published in Audubon and Mono Lake Committee
calendars, by University of California Press
in Storm Over Mono, and by such magazines
as Pacific Discovery, American
Health, Sierra Club, Sunset, and Alaska
Airlines.
Allen has traveled extensively throughout the United States and
continues his travels by exploring and photographing throughout
the world, including Europe, Canada, Mexico, China, and Japan.
A major part of Allen's energy goes into teaching others about photography.
He developed high school photography programs in northern and southern California,
and he frequently assists Barbara Brundege with her workshops or leads workshops
for Summit Photographic Workshops.
Beginning in 2003, Allen added digital and travel photography
classes to his teaching schedule, creating classes both for Summit
Photographic Workshops and for other photography programs, including
UCSC Extension and several commercial companies.
